Chartered Accountancy (CA)
The Chartered Accountant (CA) course in India, regulated by ICAI, is a prestigious 3-level professional program (Foundation, Intermediate, Final) requiring ~4.5 years to complete.
It includes rigorous exams in accounting, taxation, and auditing, combined with mandatory 2-year practical training (Articleship).
Graduates can enter directly via the Direct Entry Route.
CA Course Structure & Levels
- CA Foundation: The entry-level, taken after 12th grade. Includes four papers: Accounting, Business Laws, Quantitative Aptitude, and Business Economics. Passing requires 40% in each paper and 50% aggregate.
- CA Intermediate: The second level, lasting ~8 months, covering advanced accounting and technical knowledge. Students can register after passing the Foundation or via direct entry.
- Articleship (Practical Training): A compulsory 2-year training period after passing at least one group of the Intermediate exam, allowing students to work under a practicing CA.
- CA Final: The last stage, focusing on high-level application of knowledge, advanced auditing, and professional ethics.
